Prepare a bedroom or bathroom for the cat to decompress for a few days. Place inside a cat carrier or card board box to give the the cat the option to hide (cats feel safe in boxes).
Just like with humans stress or temperature changes can weaken a cats immune system trigerring for example : coccidia, giardia or cat flu. None of these are serious and can easily be treated. If there are other pets in the home it's best to separate the first few days to make sure nothing is spread.
From my experience over the years introductions vary due to the situation and character of the cats. So go with your gut feeling.
The most important thing is stay RELAXED! The cats will feel if you are nervous or stressed and it will make a tense atmosphere during introduction.
Hissing, pawing, growling is to be expected at the beginning. Even if a fight breaks out sterilised cats will never fight to the point of serious injuries.
If you feel there is too much tension, one cat is constantly hiding, stops to eat or other alarming behaviors reach out to McQueen Rescues for tips on how to handle the individual situation.
If for an unlikely event that the cats do not harmonate we will find it a new home or take her back. Just please have patience, they are living beings with emotions.
Cats are curious by nature, therefore please cat proof your home before it's arrival.
Remove poisonous plants, close toilet seats, do not leave a bathroom door open with a tub filled up with water without somebody present, store away cleaning supplies or cosmetics, gum is deadly to cats (Xylitol) NEVER have it laying around, hide batteries, lighters, cigarettes etc.
NEVER leave a window tilted open. Cats can/have died due to this! Use a cat safety net on your balcony.
Do not put a collar on your cat.
If you are adopting a kitten be double as careful until about 1yr old.
Be conscious that when you adopt cat you will possibly have scratched furniture or broken vases, it may have accidents outside the litter box depending on age/character.

When choosing a food brand visit your local pet store and ask for recommendations. Avoid foods with sugar, grain, soya, salt, conservatives, food dye or low percentage of protein (60% and above reccomended).
Keep a balance of wet and dry food. Wet food helps your cat stay hydrated while dry food helps your cats dental health.
If you do not want your cat roaming free but want it to experience a taste of outside you can build a Catio they can range from the size of an extended window/porch to an enclosure in your garden.
