About Us

Since child my dream was to have an Animal Shelter by the age of 30 and 4yrs ago I did just that! It started with a modified chicken coop shed and now I have built a proper Shelter housing around 45cats and I care for about 100 strays and I am active in TNR. Since 2022 McQueen Rescues is a registered organisation.

After retiring I decided to move from Switzerland to Crete and my love for animals led me to help my daughter Alexandra with rescuing. I couldn't think of better retirement years than I have now.

I was in Platanias on a vacation in 2025 for the 5th time, and only then realised just how bad the situation with the strays is, and wanted to help in any way I can. I reached out to Alexandra asking if she could use my help, and since then i've been  assisting her with social media and other projects. 

Sterilising a cat doubles the life expectancy, prevents unwanted kittens, stops the spread of viruses & stops fights that often result in serious injuries. This is why we are very active in Trap Neuter Return. 

We care for around 100 cats in our 10 colonies. All year long we feed, provide medical care & sterilise our colonies.
